Melding old school soul with new school hip-hop, Baton Rouge, LA native Tondrae is a true southern artist with gospel, blues and soul roots. His passion for singing and songwriting was ignited upon introduction to soul masters like Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and Curtis Mayfield. In his formative years, Tondrae performed in various church choirs, accapella groups, and vocal ensembles. He later attended Clark Atlanta University where he studied theatre, film, and stage work with notable actors including Bill Nunn, Tommy Byrd and Mekhi Phifer. In 1995 relocating to New Orleans, he acquired a degree in film production at the University of New Orleans.
While attending UNO, Tondrae began performing locally as a background singer for the popular local funk band Soul Remedy. In addition, he has collaborated with dynamic hip-hop artists including Mia X, Bionik Brown, Darius J and the Young Lions. Tondrae then formed his own group garnering praise for performances at the 2002 Essence Music Festival and the 2003 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. He has embarked on a journey to be heard writing and performing original material expanding the boundaries of modern soul music.
